Expectations for “Us” soared after the trailer for the program became the most-watched for a new show in Facebook history, notching more than 63 million views in its first two weeks.
To put that in perspective, that’s the sort of number a blockbuster movie might generate. The success was a surprise, since serialized programs haven’t been big draws on broadcast in recent years, and NBC has struggled to launch ones with long-term success.
But the interesting premise combined with social media word of mouth has certainly increased the chances that “Us” could be a hit. The program has a good cast and a strong producer in Fogelman. It also has a great timeslot, airing behind “The Voice,” which remains NBC’s top entertainment program.
